About Me
……

I am a Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Gardens, Cape Town.  I have been in private practice for over 22 years and have assisted individuals, couples, families and groups with a variety of challenges.  I completed my Bachelor of Social Science at University of Natal, Durban and achieved Honours in Clinical Psychology at Wits.  I then went on to do my Clinical Masters at RAU University.  In addition to my practice, I have consulted at various organizations such as SABC, SAB, Investec, Edgars, Goldfields, Vodacom, Eskom either as a coach, supervisory coach,  assessments or organizational/leadership development.

My primary focus is helping individuals heal, grow and achieve their dreams/goals no matter the context

Jody has an astute ability to identify her client’s deepest desires, as well as their most urgent needs. She is deeply compassionate, wise and insightful and has a beautiful manner of creating a containing space in which her clients can experiment with various ways of being as they search for a more authentic way of being in the present moment.

How I Work
……

I believe in a solution-focused and positive-focused psychology that helps you as a client to heal and grow and change whether your problem has been some form of abuse or you just want to self-actualize or change a pattern in your life that is holding you back.  I work with you to uncover patterns of behaviour that aren’t serving you or your life and then assist you to change and/or overcome those patterns so that life can look more like you want it to.  I work more medium (3 – 6 months) or long-term (1 year or more) as, in the majority of cases, it takes a bit of time to change a pattern forever that has developed over time.  The aim is that if you ever return to therapy it is for a different reason!

My style is warm, relaxed, real and focused and I believe in working collaboratively with my clients.  I am trained in psychology but you are the expert on your life and how you want it to be.  Together we work to help change or develop those behaviours and patterns that make your life less painful or more effective.

My Special Interests
……

I enjoy working with a variety of people including adolescents, individuals, couples and families.  My passion is unblocking what is holding someone or a couple/family back in any sphere and assist to develop the confidence to create the future they are striving for.

I am also a practitioner of Brainwave Recursive therapy – the fastest acting therapy in terms of overcoming trauma and dealing with patterns of behaviour that are difficult to shift.
